WSPC is celebrating 50 years at Runnymede.
We are having a Sponsored (River) Marathon from Henley to the WSPC clubhouse at Runnymede, on Saturday 30th August, involving skiffs, a dragon boat, and the 6-man outrigger canoe.
The Marathon will be a challenge for all the boats taking part, and everyone involved is hoping to raise as much money as possible for two deserving charities – Thames Hospice and Kidasha (an amazing small charity in Nepal supporting slum kids).
The challenge has already received a great start to its fundraising, with sponsorship from two organizations – Oscar Propulsion (www.oscarpropulsion.com/sport) and Bam Nuttall (www.bamnuttall.co.uk) – both of £300. WSPC is extremely grateful for the support and hopes that it’s an indicator of more generosity to come.
Sponsorship provides everyone with an opportunity to be involved with the challenge and the club’s 50-year celebration, even if it’s not possible to take part on the day. The JustGiving link is below – it’s hoped that you might find a way to sponsor either someone you know who is undertaking the Marathon, or to make it even more of a challenge for those taking part, suggest that the paddlers/rowers, for example, sing a song in one of the locks, in exchange for a donation to one or both of the two worthy charities. (The link has further ideas too!). Plenty of Photos will be taken on the day, and the best of them will be posted after the event.
Donations can be made to one or both of the charities by following the link on the image below.

We know very well that there isn’t a lot of spare money around just now, but both the Marathon Team and the charities being supported would really appreciate any contribution you feel able to make.
On behalf of WSPC and the group organising the event …. Thank-you.
