Another year of multiple victories at the BDA’s National Championships

Holme Pierrepont, the regatta site near Nottingham, hosted a record number of dragon boat clubs for the 2025 BDA National Championships. The paddlers encountered various weather conditions over the two days of hard, competitive, but friendly, racing.

Once again, Wraysbury Dragons & Waka Ama had a very successful Nationals Championships, winning six of the nine race classes/distances entered. The club’s results were :

  • Open S20 200m – 1st
  • Open S20 500m – !st
  • Open S20 2,000m – 1st
  • Mixed S20 200m – 1st
  • Mixed S20 500m – 2nd
  • Womens S14 200m – 3rd
  • Womens S14 500m- 2nd
  • Senior S20 200m – 1st
  • Senior S20 500m – 1st

So, we returned home with numerous trophies. In addition, perpetual trophies were won for the most successful Open and Senior crews, the 2,000m Open winners, and the club with the most paddlers representing GB at this year’s World Nations Championships held in Brandenburg, Germany.
