Wraysbury Dragons & Waka Ama race in Ravenna, Italy

Early in September, Wraysbury Dragons & Waka Ama competed at the 2024 World Club Crew Championships in Ravenna, Italy. With almost 6,000 athletes from 30 countries and 163 clubs, the racing was at a very high standard and super competitive. With almost 1,200 athletes, the Canadian clubs proved dominant throughout the event. Weather conditions during the six days of racing ranged from very hot sunshine to heavy rain with thunder and lightning. We achieved two fourth places with our Senior C standard boat crews and our Senior A small boat crews made a couple of semi finals. This competition gave an invaluable insight into the standard of dragon boat racing outside Europe. Many fine Italian pizzas and gelatos were consumed during our stay in Ravenna. A great trip on and off the water.
